Controls EngineerJob DescriptionEngage in a variety of activities focused on the design and development of control systems utilizing Mark* VIe DCS, CIMPLICITY HMI Development, Siemens S7 PLC, and Bosch Rexroth motor controllers for both safety and non-safety-related systems in nuclear power plants. Deliverables include hardware identification and testing, controls cabinet design, network definitions, HMI development, application programming, simulation modeling, verification and validation, PLM, and CLM activities. All work must comply with the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) or equivalent standards.Responsibilities+ Participate in and support systems software requirements management, design, programming, testing, and documentation.+ Develop key documentation such as Design Input Request (DIR), System Design Descriptions (SDD), Input/Output (I/O) Lists, Logic Diagrams (LD), Verification and Validation (V&V) plans and reports, technical assessments, and trade-off study reports.+ Create DCS hardware configurations and software applications using approved design tools like ToolBoxST, ControlST, CIMPLICITY, ActivePoint UX HMI Library, and others.+ Provide leadership to ensure design execution meets requirements, features, robustness, reliability, standards conformance, and regulatory guidance.+ Focus on controls product development, including rod control system development and plant automation.Essential Skills+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, Computer Science or Technology, Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.+ 15+ years of industry-related controls experience.+ 7 years of experience with architecture, design, software programming, and implementation of DI&C, protection, and monitoring systems in nuclear power plants or similar facilities.+ 5 years of experience with digital safety systems architectures, particularly Our Client Mark*VIe / Mark*VIeS and CIMPLICITY.+ 5 years of experience in technical writing focused on plans, procedures, guides, and design specifications.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Experience with Emerson Drives and Bosch Rexroth drives.+ Knowledge of dynamometer testing with torque testing.+ Strong controls experience from the nuclear industry or heavy industrial sectors.Work EnvironmentThis position offers a hybrid work environment with in-office requirements of 2 weeks per quarter, operating from 8am to 5pm with core hours from 9am to 3pm EST. Local candidates are preferred, but remote work may be considered for highly qualified individuals.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
