Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure ArchitectLocation: Newark, DE (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 + full benefitsPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, optimization, and long-term strategy of enterprise infrastructure across a complex, hybrid environment.This is a hands-on senior role where you’ll operate across on-prem and cloud ecosystems, driving performance, scalability, and resilience for critical systems. You’ll play a key role in both day-to-day engineering and long-term infrastructure planning, with ownership over major initiatives and technical direction.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions across hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)Own the full lifecycle of infrastructure systems, from planning and deployment through optimization and decommissioningArchitect and manage Active Directory environments, including domain strategy, trusts, and Group PolicyTroubleshoot complex issues related to replication, authentication, and network performanceDesign and maintain virtualized environments (VMware and/or Hyper-V)Implement high-availability solutions for mission-critical systems, including clustering and failover strategiesSupport and optimize Linux-based systems in uptime-sensitive environmentsDesign and manage cloud infrastructure in Azure and/or AWS, including networking and secure connectivitySupport endpoint lifecycle and deployment through Microsoft Intune / AutopilotParticipate in incident response and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuityCollaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams to align with enterprise standardsContribute to capacity planning, budgeting, and infrastructure roadmap developmentRequired Qualifications7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or architecture rolesStrong expertise across Microsoft, virtualization, and Linux environmentsDeep experience with Active Directory architecture and identity managementHands-on experience with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-VExperience designing high-availability, high-performance systemsStrong knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud platformsExperience with endpoint management tools (Intune, Autopilot, etc.)Proven ability to troubleshoot complex enterprise infrastructure issuesStrong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyPreferred ExperienceExperience in large, multi-site enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with ITIL or structured infrastructure lifecycle practicesExposure to Oracle Linux or enterprise Linux distributionsExperience supporting infrastructure transformations, migrations, or acquisitionsUnderstanding of security frameworks or Zero Trust environmentsWhat They’re Looking ForA senior engineer who can design and execute, not just supportSomeone comfortable owning complex, high-impact infrastructure initiativesA problem-solver who can operate effectively in high-pressure situationsAbility to make architectural decisions and drive technical directionStrong accountability across both operations and strategic planningWhy This RoleHigh-visibility position supporting critical enterprise systemsOpportunity to shape infrastructure strategy and modernization effortsExposure to a broad mix of cloud, virtualization, and enterprise technologiesCollaborative environment with meaningful technical challenges
