In this role, you will review and evaluate engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and supporting documents submitted for a wide range of public and private development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a thorough understanding of design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.ResponsibilitiesReview civil engineering improvement plans to ensure conformance with agency standards, ordinances, project conditions of approval, and industry practiceReview grading and drainage plans for various compliance conditionsReview storm drain plans and hydrology/hydraulic calculations and reports for various compliance conditionsReview water, sewer and dry utility plans for various compliance conditionsPerform complex engineering calculations and analyses to check engineering calculations provided by applicants.Resolve problems related to local city codes and city specifications in order to bring drawings and specifications into complianceCoordinate with Surveyors regarding tentative maps and/or land development applications for conformance with agency standards (entitlement process)Review and manage Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPs) and post-construction Stormwater Runoff Management Plans for various projects, and other functions to comply with State and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirementsReview studies related to the Floodplain Management ProgramAssist in establishing and/or revising departmental policies due to changes in methods of construction or field applications of codes; Trains staff in application of new codes, policies, and proceduresOther related duties as assigned
