Project Manager

Position SummaryThe Civil Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering heavy civil and infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget. This role oversees the full lifecycle of projects including site development, roadway construction, underground utilities, grading, asphalt, and railroad-related work. The Project Manager coordinates field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure quality execution and successful project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans Coordinate with estimating, engineering, field operations, subcontractors, and clients Oversee daily project activities including scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, and production management Ensure compliance with KYTC, DOT, OSHA, environmental, and project-specific requirements Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers including contract administration and performance oversight Review plans, specifications, permits, submittals, and construction documents Monitor project progress, productivity, and costs while implementing corrective actions as needed Conduct project meetings and maintain communication with owners, municipalities, railroad representatives, and internal teams Support project estimating, change order management, and project forecasting Ensure safety standards and quality expectations are upheld across all project activities Prepare project reports, schedules, documentation, and closeout packages Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience 5+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, roadway, utility, or railroad projects Experience managing KYTC and DOT projects Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control Proficiency in HCSS Estimating, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office Suite Experience coordinating with railroad companies and managing railroad-related construction requirements Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Preferred QualificationsPMP certification Experience with railroad permitting and coordination Knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, grading, asphalt, and site development operations Experience with project management software and construction technology platforms OSHA 30 certification Key CompetenciesSafety leadership and risk management Project planning and execution Team leadership and collaboration Cost management and scheduling Attention to detail and quality control Stakeholder communication and relationship management Decision-making in fast-paced environments Work Environment & Physical RequirementsCombination of office and field work environments Frequent visits to active construction sites Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment Occasional travel and after-hours responsibilities as needed Compensation & Benefits (Optional Section)Competitive salary based on experience Performance bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for career growth and professional development
