Interim Assistant ControllerSouthwest Indianapolis, IN (Onsite) Contract / Interim Opportunity | 3-6+ Months Our client, a growing company located on the southwest side of Indianapolis, is seeking an Interim Assistant Controller to provide hands-on accounting leadership and operational support during a transitional period. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys digging into details, and can quickly stabilize and improve accounting processes. This position will work closely with the CFO and will oversee day-to-day accounting operations including month-end close, job cost analysis, and financial reporting. ResponsibilitiesManage all accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activitiesOwn month-end processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparationMaintain and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and documentation proceduresSupport cash flow management, forecasting, and budget trackingAssist with preparation of financial reports for ownership and external stakeholdersPartner with operations/project managers to ensure accurate project billing, cost allocation, and revenue recognitionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior experience as Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership roleExperience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar preferredAdvanced Excel skillsAbility to work independently, prioritize effectively, and quickly assess accounting issues in a transitional environmentIdeal CandidateHands-on and willing to roll up sleeves in a lean accounting departmentComfortable balancing strategic oversight with transactional detailExperience stepping into organizations needing process improvement, cleanup, or additional accounting structureStrong communicator who can partner effectively with ownership and operational teamsCompensationCompetitive hourly rate based on experienceDetermining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
