Middle School ELA Teacher
English Language Arts TeacherBACPS is seeking dynamic, talented, and dedicated English Language Arts teachers to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers will serve as the primary teacher in a single subject area, collaborate with grade-level teams to implement an inquiry-based, standards-based curriculum, and serve as Crew Leaders to a crew (group of students.) Teachers will participate in continuous assessment of students including ongoing targeted feedback, student-led conferences, and end-of-unit exhibitions. Teachers will collaborate with the school principal, dean of students, and curriculum coach in designing project-based expeditions as well as family workshops and events, and be responsible for implementing and integrating new policies and services that support the school's mission and instructional objectives.Job Responsibilities:Teaches subject area according to curriculum guidelines specified by the charter schoolFurther develops and refines a high-level, challenging curriculum in the subject areaMaintains ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of studentsCollaborates with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches and best practices, working to serve the various learning styles and needs of studentsImplements curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with BACPS mission statement, including understanding, modeling, and fostering independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoningFacilitates and mediates positive and restorative resolution of problems that might arise with students and/or parentsAssesses student performance continuously and objectivelyDevelops with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivityHolds parent/student/teacher conferences in a manner consistent with BACPS guidelinesParticipates in all professional development activitiesParticipates in all staff meetings including school governanceDemonstrates awareness of school/community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needsMay perform other projects and duties as directed by the principalEducation/Experience/Skills:Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an applicable field of English from an accredited college or universityCurrent or eligible for teacher licensure in English, preferably in MA, requiredExcellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process and expertise in the specific content areasClassroom teaching experienceDemonstrated experience working with challenge groups in a standards-based environment, including utilizing assessments to place students, flexible pacing, flexible instruction, grouping and regrouping, acceleration, enrichment, and independent study to meet student needsDemonstrated success in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approachBilingual English/Spanish desirableExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work with diverse populationsAbility to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school community staffA strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement.Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package is offered to all candidates.
