In this key role, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor-driving quality across highway initiatives, supporting collaborative project teams, and helping deliver practical, sustainable solutions. We offer most employees the option of a hybrid schedule with a work week that includes both office and work from home days.What You'll Do:Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for various highway projects including roadway modeling, roundabouts, and signal designProvide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projectsLead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutionsDevelop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraintsGuide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and supportDeliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agenciesWhat You Bring:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering requiredMinimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferredNHDOT experience preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredExpert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practicesAdvanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.)Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering lawsDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsParticipation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferredWhy You'll Love It Here:Serve as a technical leader within the transportation discipline, leading challenging highway projects that elevate the safety, efficiency, and resilience of transportation systemsMake a meaningful impact while mentoring the next generation of engineering talentCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a flexible, supportive work environmentCurious about the impactful work our Highway & Rail team is doing?
