Follows established guidelines when handling unusual non-routine problems. May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received. Shipping duties typically involve verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading. Receiving duties typically involve the following: verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received. Other duties may be assigned.This position is a McNamara O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) position. The current hourly rate is $17.56.This is a full-time temporary position until December 6, 2024, with the potential for the position to become permanent.What Makes a Successful Candidate: The successful candidate will be able to lift and move material and equipment weighing up to 60 pounds and to sit, stand, and stoop for prolonged periods of time. Must hold a valid driver's license and a Florida Class E license with no restrictions that are in conflict with the Department of Transportation (DOT) or Navy Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Applicant must be able to pass a Navy quality medical/physical required for forklift operation and have good hearing and eyesight. US citizenship is required. The applicant must be able to pass public trust and similar background investigations which would lead to the issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC) card.Data entry experience with Citrix Database and Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Industry SAP is a plus. Duties will include daily interaction and logging in to an ERP account. Experience working with MS Office, Outlook, and Adobe PDF software programs is required.Must haves:High School diploma or GED; Vocational training commensurate with Department of Labor functional description. Adequate experience performing the duties of the labor category as described in the Department of Labor functional description.
