Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO)(Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine Fellowship) Position SummaryThe Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role involves the management of undifferentiated, high-acuity patients across all age groups and requires rapid clinical decision-making, procedural expertise, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of emergent medical, surgical, and traumatic conditionsPerform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound care, fracture stabilization, and point-of-care ultrasound, consistent with training and privilegesRapidly assess patient acuity and prioritize care based on clinical urgencyInterpret diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiogramsInitiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans including admission, transfer, or dischargeParticipate in trauma, stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and cardiac arrest response protocols as applicableCollaborate with nursing staff, consultants, EMS, and ancillary servicesCommunicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up careMaintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiativesSupervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and learners as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolOne of the following training pathways: Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residencyORCompletion of an accredited Family Medicine residency with an Emergency Medicine fellowshipBoard-eligible or board-certified in Emergency MedicineorBoard-certified in Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine fellowship trainingAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilityBLS and ACLS required; ATLS and PALS as required by departmentSkills and CompetenciesExpertise in acute care medicine and emergency proceduresStrong clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilitiesAbility to manage high-acuity and high-stress clinical environmentsExcellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skillsCommitment to patient safety, efficiency, and evidence-based careWork EnvironmentEmergency department within an acute care hospital or freestanding emergency facilityShift-based scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout clinical shiftsManual dexterity for emergency and bedside proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and emergency response
