Controller | Utilimaster | Bristol, IN (Main)Regular Employee | Salary Exempt |What you'll do:As the Plant Controller at our Utilimaster Aftermarket facility in Bristol, IN, you will be accountable for overseeing and managing all accounting operations for the plant. A significant portion of your role will involve developing periodic financial reports and maintaining an adequate accounting records system.Your role as Plant Controller will also involve developing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of The Shyft Group's reported financial results, and for ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.Core Responsibilities:Analyzing financial data looking for business efficiencies and verifying the accuracyProviding management with a timely review of the organization's financial status and progressDeveloping statistical reports and preparing for managementEvaluating degree of financial risks in current and future undertakingsAssisting in the development of pricing strategiesPreparing and presenting financial statements and related reports including but not limited to the balance sheet, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysisAssisting in the preparation of tax reports, internal controls documentation and other internal and external reports as requiredSupporting monthly, quarterly, and annual balancing of books and monthly account reviews; prepare and present monthly financial statementsMonitoring receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigatedEnsuring inventory accuracy via monitoring of cycle count program, bill of materials, etc.Supporting annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documentsDeveloping financial plan and forecastAssisting with company strategic planningDirecting budget preparation, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgetsProviding cost estimating for new and existing products and product optionsAssisting with the development of overhead and labor standardsReviewing, evaluating and implementing accounting systems, policies, and proceduresVerifying all Sarbanes-Oxley and other compliance requirements are implementedAssisting with special projects as requiredPerforming other duties as assigned by the managerAssisting with special projects as requiredWhat you need to be successful:Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, or business administration (CPA certification preferred)5+ years of accounting experience2+ years of experience working as a controller in a manufacturing environment preferredUnderstanding of fundamentals of Government procurement regulations requires that the effect accounting system would be a plusWorking knowledge of forecasting and financial reportsDemonstrated ability to interpret economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the organizationWorking knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific methodProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteWhat Makes You Stand OutAbility to work with all levels of managementStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflowProven leadership and business acumen skillsWilling to travel as neededWhy The Shyft Group?Our people are our greatest asset, and your success is our success!
