Substitute School Crossing GuardResponsible for the safety of school children crossing major roadways at designated areas in the district.ResponsibilitiesAssist students in crossing assigned roadway's safelyMaintain discipline at the crossing site in a positive, caring mannerMaintain a courteous attitude with the motorists at assigned crossing site(s)Report accidents and/or injuries immediately to the transportation supervisorResponsible for wearing and maintaining the regulation reflective vestResponsible for placement of traffic cones/stop signs at assigned roadway crossingsQualificationsMinimum 18 years of ageMust have high school diploma or equivalentAbility to follow verbal instructionsAbility to communicate with children and adultsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Handheld traffic signs, traffic cones, reflective safety attirePosture: Prolong standingMotion: Constant walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reachingLifting: Light lifting (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Work outside (prolong exposure to extreme temperatures, sunlight, and humidity); constant exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; work around moving vehicles and on slippery and uneven surfacesMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under pressure; work with frequent interruptions; may work aloneOther InformationYour application is not complete until three current references have been received.
