Shop Technician

DescriptionSupport fabrication process in any way including clean-up, assisting others, and other general duties. Prepare structural parts and components for processing on production lines. Handle or move materials to work points via forklift or by hand truck / palletESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.Secures and/or packages parts and assemblies according to directions from Lead or Supervisor, using appropriate tools and equipment.Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment as needed.Cuts work pieces, using powered saws, torch, or machine as necessary.Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.Moves structural elements by hand and machine through the use of chain rigging, overhead/jib crane, material conveyor, or transfer stations and other material handling equipment.Cleans and organizes work areas and assists others as necessary.Other duties that may be assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Prefer High School diploma, GED or equivalent, 0 - 3 years work experience.Physical ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs of material.Ability to understand and follow directions.Ability to maintain a courteous and professional relationship with co-workers.This job description reflects the current assignment of essential functions and is not meant to be all-inclusive.
