Summary Description: Under general supervision of the Director and Supervisors of Parks and Recreation, performs a variety of duties in support of the Village’s Parks and Recreation Department. The ideal candidate for the Seasonal Part-time Parks and Recreation Athletic – Site Coordinator will support the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department and have the primary responsibility to ensure that all persons have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting or using the Village of Monee Parks and Recreation facilities. Key Responsibilities: Operation of youth and adult recreational sports programs, athletic events, and sport leagues. This role includes assisting with game-day supervision, supporting referees, maintaining participant safety, and helping ensure smooth program operations. The Seasonal Athletic -Site Coordinator may also assist with concessions, scoreboard operations, and, if interested, wear a team or league mascot costume to engage participants and spectators. Representative Duties The following duties are typical for this classification, incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. 1. Responsible for meeting the Parks and Recreation Mission. 2. Assist with the supervision and operation of recreational league games, Athletic events, and open gym play. 3. Help to officiate games or support referees as needed. 4. Enforce league rules, policies, and safety guidelines in a positive manner. 5. Assist with setup and breakdown of fields, courts, and equipment. 6. Monitor player, coach, and spectator behavior to ensure a safe and respectful environment. 7. Respond to minor incidents or injuries and report concerns to supervisors. 8. Assist with attendance tracking, scorekeeping, and basic administrative tasks. 9. Operate the scoreboard during games as needed. 10. Assist with concessions if required. 11. Optional mascot duties: Wear a mascot costume to enhance participant and spectator engagement (Training will be provided for all duties.) Minimum Qualifications The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or skills to be learned with a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. · Ability to interact with others including the public in a reasonable and courteous manner. · Ability to work within a chain of command. · Ability to demonstrate personal discipline qualities to perform required work. · Organization skills and attention to detail. · Ability to work independently or as a team · Possession of good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of the position and wear provided safety equipment as required. · Ability to communicate effectively. · Must be honest, trustworthy and reliable. · Interest in sports, recreation or youth programming. · Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the program schedule. · Comfortable performing physical tasks and standing for extended periods. · Previous Parks and Recreation experience a plus. Education and/or Other Requirements · Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent. · Must be a minimum of 18 years old · Valid Driver’s License or State ID. Preferred Experience/Qualifications · Knowledge of Volleyball play and/or officiating is preferred (at least 2 years) · Prior experience working with youth in a recreational setting · Basic knowledge of recreational sports rules and officiating Physical Demands: The condition herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will encounter inclement weather, dust, dirt, noise, vibration, unpleasant odors and close working quarters. Training · Staff without prior officiating experience will receive rule instruction and officiating guidance. · Orientation and on-site training as needed will be provided. Hours of Employment · Seasonal Part –Time Non Exempt. Hours may vary based on Park and Recreation Programming. Weekend work may be required as needed.
