Shift: Days
Under Supervisor’s supervision, assures maintenance and proper operation of all
heating, water, sewage and gas systems. Inspects, installs, repairs, and
replaces pipes fittings and plumbing fixtures.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Inspects, installs, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, plumbingfixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas, steam and drainage systems of the hospital.
2. Insures that all systems and equipment meets standards, regulations and codes so that the hospital stays in full compliance during repairs and installations. Quality checks on plumbing work of outside contractors. Reports problems/discrepancies to supervisor or director.
3. Reports to supervisor to post and monitor preventative maintenance program on all equipment and appliances.
4. Oversees/works with other maintenance personnel in installation of piping, protective covering and appliances, using hand and/or power tools and following manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Examines new installations for proper operations and maintenance. Studies blueprints and sketches to determine requirements and costs.
6. Estimates material requirements and costs. Requisition materials upon approval by Director/supervisor.
7. Required to work under emergency conditions and in difficult situations, and to adjust to changing conditions throughout the hospital.
8. Performs other related duties as required.
9. Trains and/or directs helpers in assembling and installation of piping.
10. Observes strict compliance with all safety practices, policies, and laws.
Immediately reports/takes corrective action when discrepancies are found.
11. Adheres to standard safety practices and job, department, and Columbia Memorial Hospital policies and procedures related to safety. Also participates in training and development in accordance with same.
12. Displays good guest relations and a positive attitude towards all Hospital visitors, patients, and vendors as well as fellow employees.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
License/Certifications: Valid NYS Drivers License
Experience: Three (3) years plumbing experience, construction and cast iron
work.

Salary Range: $15.25 – $25.32
