Process Control Engineer III (2302)

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Process Control Engineer III to support the design and development of digital instrumentation and control (DI&C) systems for nuclear power plant applications. This role involves working with distributed control systems (DCS), HMI development, and motor controllers for both safety-related and non-safety systems. The position requires strong technical expertise in control systems architecture, software development lifecycle processes, and regulatory compliance within highly regulated industries. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop control and monitoring systems utilizing Mark VIe DCS, CIMPLICITY HMI, and related control platforms. Perform hardware identification, testing, controls cabinet design, application programming, software design, and simulation modeling. Develop DCS hardware configurations and software applications using approved engineering tools (e.g., ToolBoxST, ControlST, CIMPLICITY, ActivePoint UX HMI Library). Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation including Design Input Requests (DIR), System Design Descriptions (SDD), I/O Lists, Logic Diagrams, test plans, procedures, reports, and technical assessments. Support systems software requirements management, design, programming, validation, testing, and documentation activities. Interface with third-party equipment using communication protocols such as OPC, HART, FFB, Modbus, Profibus, and IEC. Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices. Collaborate with Technical Project Engineers, Engineering Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to manage scope, schedule, and engineering budgets. Drive continuous improvement using Agile, LEAN, or FastWorks methodologies. Conduct pre-job briefs and EHS observations as required. Mandatory Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field with 7+ years of industry-related controls experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in architecture, design, software programming, and implementation of DI&C protection and monitoring systems in nuclear or related life-safety industries. Minimum 4 years of experience in digital systems hardware and software development lifecycle processes for safety instrumented systems (SIS). Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), drivers, utilities, firmware, blockware, and application-specific programming. Experience using development tools such as compilers, code standard checkers, cybersecurity scanners, and configurators. Experience with digital safety systems architectures such as Mark VIe / Mark VIeS and CIMPLICITY (preferred platform experience). Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Visio. Technical writing experience focused on plans, procedures, requirements, and design specifications. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and graphical communication skills. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills within multidisciplinary teams. Desired Skills: Experience working in nuclear power, energy, aerospace, defense, marine, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries. Experience working in hybrid or distributed engineering team environments.
