Quality Control Inspector

Under general supervision, the individual Inspects materials and products, or components, and finished equipment for conformance to specifications by examining materials or products for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds, selecting products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics. Requirements: Have a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics. Have a fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation with respect to domestic and international requirements. Able to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with Quality principles, which includes planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems. Able to plan, control, and assure product application, including design, manufacturing, and construction. Interact with supervisor, process owner, process operators, and other interested parties to perform assigned tasks. Essential Functions Compares product with parts list and/or production drawings to ensure completion of assembly. Verifies specified dimensions of product or material. Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag. Interprets engineering drawings, diagrams, and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. Witness various hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical testing activities and sign off on conformance. Ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Required Education and Experience 3+ years or more of related certification and inspection experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years or more within a multidiscipline manufacturing environment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written. Read and understand mechanical and structural drawings. Working knowledge of computers and software such as Word, Excel, etc. Experience in documented Quality Management Systems (QMS.).
