Laboratory Assistant
Department: Laboratory OperationsReports to: Accessioning ManagerPay Group: Non-ExemptJob SummaryThe Laboratory Assistant will help in the pre-analytical stage of the sample preparation process for clinical testing. This role will join our high performing molecular, chemistry, and/or serology-based laboratory testing team, and the ideal candidate will have the desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Hours are: 6:30a - 3p, Tuesday - Saturday.Responsibilities And Duties -Follow and adhere to all Corporate Standard Operating Procedures and Corporate Compliance Program.Follow all safety, HIPAA, regulatory requirements.Able to perform all testing per Standard Operating Procedures.Use problem solving skills to improve the laboratory processes.Document, organize, and maintain accurate records and storage of samples for easy retrieval.Maintain constant communication with laboratory personnel regarding sample receiving or laboratory issues.Assist in the pre-analytical stage of the sample preparation process for all the different testing types.Assist with sample aliquoting.Perform all delegated tasks in a timely and professional manner.Mandatory participation in weekly meetings to discuss clinical testing operation, process improvements, internal projects, and any other relevant topics of interest.Inspection/Audit: the laboratory should be prepared and operated on a day-to-day basis to result in no deficiencies on any scheduled, random, or unannounced inspection. from any accrediting agency including but not limited to CLIA, CAP, OSHA, Department of Health, State, etc.Additional duties can be assigned by management.Required Skills And Abilities -Knowledge of laboratory protocols.Detail oriented and ability to multi-task.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment.Ability to work overtime as needed.Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and email.Education Requirements -High School Diploma or GED.Physical Requirements -Exposure to diseases and/or infectious specimens on a daily basis.Exposure to some adverse and undesirable environmental conditions such as temperature changes (ranging from room temperature to cold).Work must be performed onsite only.Work requires prolonged standing and intense visual concentration when testing and analysis.Will range from sitting for extended periods of time to standing/walking/moving throughout the area all day.Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.Gravity Diagnostics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
