Controller

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations for a growing business in New York. This role is well suited for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a smaller-company environment, oversees a lean team, and partners closely with leadership on key financial priorities. The Controller will manage core accounting functions, support operational decision-making, and help guide financial processes within a manufacturing-oriented organization undergoing business evolution.7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in a Controller or senior accounting roleStrong hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliationsExperience working in a manufacturing environment preferredWorking knowledge of sales tax compliance, including New York sales tax filings and order-level tax calculation processesFamiliarity with payroll administration for both hourly and salaried employees; Paychex experience is a plusExperience calculating commissions and accurately integrating those payments into payrollAbility to manage and mentor a small team while remaining highly involved in daily accounting operationsStrong communication skills and ability to work closely with business owners or senior leadership in a small-company settingHigh attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong organizational skillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferredRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
