If you’ve ever actually run a cyber recovery drill, not just written the plan, this one’s for you.We’re hiring a Senior Cyber Recovery Engineer/ Architect (Contract | Potential to Convert) in Chicago (hybrid, 3 days/week onsite).This is not a documentation-heavy DR role.This is hands-on, high-stakes recovery engineering inside a regulated financial environment, where your work is tested under real scrutiny.What You’ll OwnDesign and operate isolated recovery environments (IREs) and clean roomsExecute full-scale recovery exercises (ransomware, destructive malware, failover scenarios)Build and validate runbooks, playbooks, and recovery automationPartner with regulators (OCC, FDIC, NYDFS, etc.) during audits and examinationsEnsure Tier 1 systems can be restored—accurately, securely, and on timeWhat We’re Looking For10+ years in infrastructure / platform / resilience engineering4+ years inside a regulated financial institutionProven experience with IRE / clean room recovery (not just DR/BC planning)Hands-on with backup/replication tools (Cohesity, Rubrik, Zerto, Veeam, etc.)Strong understanding of zero trust, segmentation, identity isolationExperience supporting regulatory exams and responsesScripting / automation (Terraform, Python, Ansible, etc.)If your experience is mostly documentation, DR planning, or tabletop exercises only, this likely isn’t the right fit.
