An integral part of our mission and practice is to develop partnerships with families and community organizations that prepare and empower children to embrace learning, a strong sense of self, and social connection as essential tools for growth and achievement.Overall ResponsibilityThe Sous Chef assists the chef in preparing and cooking large quantities of food for the children and staff of Flance Early Learning Center. Responsible for ensuring the timely washing and cleaning of tableware, pots, pans, and cooking/kitchen equipment. Ensures the sanitation & cleanliness of kitchen.Essential Tasks and ResponsibilitiesInteractionsRetrieve carts and obtain student numbers in the morningDeliver food items to classroomsImplementationPrepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely mannerOperate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficientlyAdhere to all sanitation and food production codesFollow recipes and presentation specificationsPractice good safety and sanitationPlanningCleans and organizes the kitchen and equipmentWash pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipmentRestock items as needed throughout the shiftSkills and AttributesTime management – Manage time accordingly to meet children feeding needsAttention to detail and ability to follow throughProfessional appearance and demeanorQuality control – ensure all products stored, served, etc. meet guidelinesMust be extremely well-organized and flexible; strong time management skills and able to multi-task and work in a sometimes-chaotic environment in which he/she is rarely able to complete a task without interruptionDesire to work around children and families, people of all agesMust be able to lift a minimum of 50lbsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneEnvironmental FactorsHot, humid conditions in kitchen.
