Maintenance Technician II
Job Classification:
Hourly, Fulltime, Non-union Position in the Morning Shift
Biweekly Pay Frequency - Competitive Salary (Metro Detroit region)
Eligible for Monthly and Annual Safety Bonus based on individual and team performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily completion of Preventative Maintenance work orders.
Daily completion of Reactive Maintenance Breakdown work orders.
Daily monitoring of plant equipment for proper operation.
Using an equipment manual, determine repair parts needed.
Pursue training in maintenance skills that he/she has not achieved proficiency in. This may include on-the-job training and company paid off-site training.
Monitor the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies and report when getting low.
Perform additional routine duties as assigned such as moving inventory; shoveling or plowing snow; or driving to a local vendor to drop off equipment or pick up supplies.
Participate in “on-call rotations” during evening and weekend hours to come in to work to repair equipment that has broken down and cannot wait until normal work hours for repair.
Able to work overtime as needed.
Always work in a safe manner and follow all plant safety rules and procedures such as equipment guarding, lock-out tag-out, confined space, electrical safety, line breaking.
Follow 5S, and always maintain a clean and organized work area, including the shop and storage areas.
Timely, accurate and legible completion of all appropriate paperwork and records.
Becoming proficient at troubleshooting of plant equipment such as Hot Oil System, Packaging Equipment, Reactors, Pelletizers, Air Compressors, Chillers, Ovens, Fork Trucks, Pumps, Cutting equipment, etc.
May assist in the planning of maintenance work.
May train other members of the maintenance team as directed.
May fill in for Maintenance Manager during his/her absence.
Skills and Specifications:
Must be able to work in a manufacturing team environment and meet deadlines.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Good written and oral communication skills, the ability to work well with others and project a pleasant, professional image.
Ability to read, understand and follow instructions such as equipment manuals, work orders, company procedures, etc.
Must have a valid state driver’s license and experience driving Forklift Trucks, Scissor Lift & Articulating Lift.
Must be able to effectively train others in maintenance activities.
Demonstrate proficiency in all of the following:
Welding flat plate and CS pipe.
Threading and pipe fitting pipe up to 2-inch diameter.
Troubleshooting 120-volt electrical circuits.
Working knowledge of single loop controllers to do basic programming and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of PLCs for purposes of troubleshooting.
Mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, agitators, conveyors, etc.) disassembly, repair, reassembly, and alignment.
480-volt motors, VFDs, troubleshooting and replacement
Working knowledge of flow, pressure, and temperature transmitters for troubleshooting purposes.
Time spent on the job will be 90% in the production facilities, grounds & shop and 10% in the office.
