About The Role
CV Engineering is seeking a Construction Cost Estimator to join our team. This role focuses on pre-construction cost estimating and project planning, supporting the development of accurate, detailed construction budgets before projects are approved. The estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and leadership to provide financial insight, support bid preparation, and inform strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys analyzing costs, preparing estimates, and contributing strategically to project planning.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed construction budgets based on project drawings, scopes of work, and historical cost data
Prepare cost breakdowns, quantity takeoffs, and budget assumptions for new projects
Research and apply unit pricing, labor rates, and material costs to ensure accurate estimates
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and leadership to review estimates and assumptions
Support value engineering and cost optimization initiatives during project planning
Maintain and update historical cost databases, unit pricing information, and estimating tools
Assist with bid preparation, feasibility studies, and pre-construction analyses as needed
Provide input to project planning and scheduling based on cost insights
Qualifications
Strong understanding of construction estimating methodologies, industry unit pricing, and labor productivity
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and budgeting tools
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Sage Estimating, Excel, ERP/financial systems)
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field preferred
3-7 years of experience in construction estimating or pre-construction planning
Experience with industrial or heavy industrial projects preferred
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
