Senior Accounts Receivable SpecialistLocation: Houston, TexasSchedule: HybridReports To: Accounting ManagerPosition OverviewOur client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for overseeing the full-cycle AR process, ensuring timely collections, accurate cash application, and strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of AR best practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to identify process improvements in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, cash application, and collectionsMonitor aging reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances to minimize past-due accountsLead customer communication regarding billing discrepancies, payment status, and account resolutionPrepare and analyze AR aging reports, providing insights and recommendations to managementReconcile AR subledger to the general ledger and assist with month-end close activitiesInvestigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cashCollaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and customer service teams to resolve billing issuesAssist in developing and improving AR processes, controls, and efficienciesSupport audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiriesMentor and support junior AR staff as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred4+ years of accounts receivable or general accounting experienceStrong understanding of AR processes, cash application, and collections strategiesAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external relationshipsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesBenefits Collaborative and growth-oriented team environmentOpportunities for career advancement and professional developmentCompetitive compensation and benefits package
