Role: Systems Analyst (Applications/Software Development)Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: 4–5 days/week on-site at 6230 E. Stassney Lane, Austin, TX 78744)Duration: 12 Months (1st & 2nd renewal options available)Position SummaryThis hybrid role combines traditional systems analysis with hands-on scripting, process automation, and AI integration. You will collaborate with business units to optimize operational procedures, perform cost/benefit analyses, and build automated prototypes for engineering-related software services (model ingestion, quantity extraction, plan conformance, and CI/CD automation).Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Requirements: Partner with business units to analyze operational procedures, identify problems, perform feasibility and cost/benefit analyses, and draft detailed user requirement specifications.Automation & AI Integration: Develop Python scripts and Bash tools to automate processes, prototype solutions, and integrate pre-built AI/ML models or APIs.System Review & Testing: Evaluate system capabilities and constraints against TxDOT standards; assist in rapid development, testing, and validation of software solutions.Documentation & Collaboration: Document user needs, program logic, and workflows; collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and business stakeholders.Required QualificationsExperience: 1–3 years of professional experience as a Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Software/Automation Developer.Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.Core Technical Skills:Languages & Scripting: Python (data processing & automation) and Bash (system automation).AI/ML: Foundational knowledge of AI concepts and experience applying pre-built models or APIs.SDLC & Version Control: Git, agile/rapid prototyping, and CI/CD pipelines.Analytical & Communication: Proven ability to translate business objectives into functional tech solutions; strong documentation and verbal communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).Hands-on knowledge of Docker / containerization.Familiarity with API development and data integration.
