Contract Technical Product Owner
About The RoleWe are seeking experienced Contract Technical Product Owners to support discovery and delivery for business-critical web and mobile products.This is a contract, hourly, project-based role. We are building a bench of product leaders who can be engaged as client opportunities arise. Work is not guaranteed on a continuous basis; engagements will vary in scope and duration depending on client needs.This role is ideal for independent consultants or fractional product leaders who enjoy stepping into new environments, leading client engagements, and delivering high-quality products from discovery through release.Key ResponsibilitiesWhen engaged, you will:Lead product delivery across client engagements, from discovery through releaseFacilitate discovery workshops to define goals, requirements, and success metricsTranslate business needs into roadmaps, user stories, and actionable backlogsPrioritize work and make tradeoff decisions based on value, risk, and timelinesServe as a client-facing product lead, providing updates and recommendationsManage and refine backlogs in Jira with clear, development-ready requirementsFacilitate agile ceremonies and support predictable, high-quality deliveryPartner with engineering, design, and QA teams to ensure strong outcomesIdentify risks early and drive resolutionSupport pre-sales and early-stage discovery as neededWhat We’re Looking For6+ years of experience in product ownership, technical product management, or deliveryProven track record leading software projects from discovery through launchStrong ability to ramp quickly and operate independently in new environmentsComfortable with ambiguity; able to bring structure and clarity to complex workExcellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience with Jira and modern product/delivery toolsSolid understanding of software development and technical tradeoffsIdeal ProfileExperience as a consultant, contractor, or fractional product leaderComfortable balancing strategic discovery with hands-on executionOrganized, proactive, and responsive in a remote environmentMotivated by flexible, project-based workCompensation at Bellwood is determined by several factors, including job scope, title, and relevant experience.
