Job Summary
The Assisted Living Nursing Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance and education of medication assistants and resident care coordinators. This role requires the ability to adapt to the evolving demands of assisted living, maintain a positive atmosphere, and continually improve nursing knowledge and skills. The Nursing Manager also ensures compliance with state regulations and manages health-related communication with external medical providers. Duties and Responsibilities
Medication Management:
1. Ensure satisfactory performance of RCCs and medication assistants in nurse delegation tasks.
2. Supervise RCC and medication assistants' communication with physicians.
3. Ensure that the RCC corrects out-of-compliance notations on pharmacy audits.
4. Follow up on additional audits conducted by the pharmacy and administrator as needed.
Resident Care:
1. Participate in resident pre-move in assessment review.
2. Complete facility nursing assessments within 30 days of new resident admissions and review every 90 days thereafter.
3. Problem-solve care issues with resident care coordinators and medication assistants.
4. Facilitate and supervise RCC’s communications with medical and other providers concerning residents' health.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions.
6. Oversee and guide RCCs to ensure they deliver high-quality care and support to residents. Provide leadership and support to the team, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence in resident care.
7. Conduct quarterly RN Assessments, C.O.C. (Change of Condition), and T.C.O.C. (Temporary Change of Condition), self-directed medication, and assistive device assessments.
8. Oversee and educate on medications and treatments.
9. Supervise RCCs coordination and review outside agencies.
10. Oversee RCCs’ work of resident care coordination, managing incidents, and providing interventions.
11. Sign off on care plans.
12. Redesign diabetic delegation processes.
13. Review quarterly PO’s (Physician Orders), self-medications, and assistive devices.
14. Handle incidents and disciplinary actions.
15. Conduct weekly skin assessments and monthly weight checks.
16. Review alert charting and orders.
Staff Development and Training:
1. Instruct, train, mentor, and teach all medication assistants and resident care coordinators in clinical duties, nurse delegations, and clinical continuing education.
2. Conduct required staff training and in-services on clinical subject matter.
3. Maintain records for Hepatitis B and TB testing.
4. Ensure satisfactory performance of medication assistants in nurse delegation tasks.
Qualifications
1. Must meet the requirements set forth for Registered Nurses in the state of Oregon.
2. Maintain CPR certification.
3. Ability to work with residents, guests, and the public in a thoughtful, diplomatic, and tactful manner.
4. Knowledge of state regulations and the ability to implement policies and procedures to comply with those regulations.
5. Familiarity with the elderly population and the concept of assisted living.
6. Drug and alcohol-free with a clean background check.
