Secretary To The United States Attorney If selected for this position, you will serve as the secretary to the United States Attorney (USA), providing a variety of technical and administrative support services.Typical work assignments will include:Exercise exclusive control over the USA and FAUSA's calendar for all appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences with complete authority.Reads, screens and controls incoming mail.Screens telephone calls and visitors desiring to speak to the USA and FAUSA.Composes a variety of written material.Makes travel arrangements for the USA and FAUSA.Helps coordinates a variety of media events with, or on the behalf of the USA.Arranges conferences and meetings for the USA and FAUSA.Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.Qualifications GS-8: To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing a wide range of secretarial and administrative support functions in a legal environment.GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level.Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing a wide range of high-level secretarial and administrative support functions in a legal environment.GS-10: To be eligible at the GS-10 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level.Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level. Specialized experience is defined as performing a wide range of complex, high-level secretarial and administrative support functions in a legal environment.To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.EducationPayment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
