By solving hiring challenges for both sides, PPLIED offers a streamlined and accessible way to connect talent with opportunities.Note: This position is being promoted by PPLIED on behalf of one of our onboarded recruiters and hiring partners. The candidate must be in the USA.Role Description:This is a full-time, hybrid Database Administrator role based in San Francisco, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. The Database Administrator will manage and maintain production and development databases that support PPLIED’s platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring database health, performing backups and restores, handling replication and failover processes, and troubleshooting database-related issues. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams on database design, schema changes, and query optimization, as well as implementing best practices for data integrity, access controls, and compliance. The Database Administrator will also contribute to documentation, automation of routine tasks, and continuous improvement of database operations.Qualifications:Strong skills in Database Administration and Databases, including managing production environments and ensuring availability.Experience with Database Design and schema modeling to support scalable, secure, and performant applications.Ability to diagnose and resolve issues using Troubleshooting skills across database performance, connectivity, and data integrity.Hands-on experience with Replication, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.Proficiency with one or more modern relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and familiarity with cloud-hosted databases.Knowledge of SQL optimization, indexing strategies, and monitoring tools for performance tuning.Understanding of data security, access controls, and compliance best practices in a production environment.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams.Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and version control tools is beneficial.
