The person hired in this position will play a vital role within a team of highly motivated administrators, teachers, specialists and classified staff focused on the academic success of all students. This candidate must demonstrate the creative thinking skills, personal initiative and solid work ethic required to address the myriad of challenges faced by high school students. This candidate must have the communication skills required to connect with students, staff and families at a variety of settings: one on one, homes, community meetings and public gatherings.This position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a dedication to ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed, recognizing and addressing barriers to academic achievement.QualificationsAppropriate State of Oregon Counselor License.Adherence to the Counselor Code of Ethics. Demonstrate responsibility for continued professional growth. Personal characteristics and professional skills which promote confidence and respect.Physical demands needed: ability to communicate with students, co-workers, and the public; ability to communicate over the telephone; ability to respond to telephone, bells, students, co-workers, etc.; ability to respond to classroom disturbances, visual cues, student requests, etc.; ability to operate office equipment; ability to carry or lift light loads (25 lbs).PreferencesBilingual (written and verbal) in English and Spanish highly preferred.Two or more years of certified high school counseling experience (or similar)Ability to facilitate and present to public parent meetings, all school meetings, etc.All applicants will be considered carefully.
