Come join our team!The Safety Compliance Specialist (OSHA) is responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and internal safety policies. This role supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and auditing of safety programs to reduce workplace injuries, improve regulatory compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture across operations.The Safety Compliance Specialist (OSHA) works closely with the Safety Compliance Specialist (DOT), Region Safety Managers, Operations leadership, and Maintenance teams to identify hazards, evaluate regulatory requirements, and ensure safety programs are effectively implemented and maintained.Responsibilities of Position:Ensure company compliance with OSHA regulations and applicable state safety standardsMonitor regulatory updates and communicate changes affecting company operationsAssist in the development and revision of safety policies and procedures to align with OSHA requirementsSupport OSHA inspections, regulatory inquiries, and documentation requestsAssist in the implementation and monitoring of safety programs and initiatives across company locationsLead safety and compliance internal auditsIdentify potential hazards and recommend corrective actionsAssist with the investigation of workplace injuries, near misses, and incidentsIdentify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actionsEnsure proper documentation and reporting of incidentsMaintain OSHA injury and illness records (OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs); annual reporting as required with OSHA ITA and BLS requestsEnsure accurate documentation and regulatory reporting requirements are metSupport the preparation of OSHA reports and safety performance metricsProvide OSHA compliance training and safety education to corporate teams and new safety managers/supervisors throughout the regionsAssist with the development of safety training materials and programsSupport ongoing safety awareness initiatives and employee engagement effortsAssess training compliance at the sites and provide recommendations for areas of improvement to ensure a compliant and consistent training programPromote proactive hazard identification and reportingCollaborate with leadership to strengthen safety accountabilitySupport initiatives that reinforce a safety excellence mindset throughout the organizationAttend and participate in local safety councilsPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility:This position will not manage employeesSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standardsMust have the ability to train others in a clear, understandable, and professional mannerAbility to build strong working relationships, acting as a daily ambassador, with site-level teams to foster trust, accountability, and ownership of safe work practicesMust possess strong planning/organizational and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers and encourage engagementKnowledge and understanding of the mechanical functions of commercial vehicles and equipmentComputer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft applications, PowerBI, and Outlook applications, a plusAbility to operate a commercial vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations/complianceStrong investigative skills requiredExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:3 - 5 years of occupational safety, OSHA compliance, or safety program managementExperience in industrial, manufacturing, waste management, transportation, or construction environments preferredMust have knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA/industrial safety compliance as they relate to the waste hauling industryKnowledge of the waste industry and hauling operations is a plusAbility to obtain and maintain OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction, OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer Certification, and First Aid/CPR Trainer CertificationSmith System Trainer Certification preferredExperience in DOT compliance is a plusExperience with Fire Suppression Systems is a plusPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:Rarely lifting/carrying a max of 100 lbsOccasionally pushing/pulling a max of 35 lbsRarely pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbsFrequently working outsideContinuously working in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditionsContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingRarely climbing and/or balancingFrequently sitting/standing/walkingAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:Must have at least a valid Class B CDLMust have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hireNo more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 yearsPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to travel between offices, as requiredAbility to work flexible hours;
