Position Title: Mammography Technologist
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Mammography Director
Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic mammographic examinations to diagnose breast cancer. This role involves managing quality control tests as per equipment manufacturer specifications and MQSA requirements. Collaboration with a diverse team, including Radiologists, Managers, and other healthcare staff, is essential to ensure effective communication and procedural efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct radiation safety measures and utilize protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure safety for patients and staff
Evaluate mammographic images to confirm their diagnostic suitability
Clearly explain procedures to patients to ensure their safety and comfort during scans
Maintain accurate patient records, process treatment data, and prepare diagnostic reports
Perform examinations independently, demonstrating technical proficiency without constant supervision
Troubleshoot and report equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor
Prepare and maintain examination rooms with the necessary equipment
Educate and assist new staff in mammography techniques and procedures
Manage patient positioning and equipment setup for optimal imaging results
Fulfill continuing education requirements to stay current with advancements in mammography and related fields
Uphold patient confidentiality as per HIPAA standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography (ARRT)(R).
Mammography certification (ARRT)(M) is strongly preferred
Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board
Completion of 40-hour course meeting MQSA standards
At least one year of recent experience as a Mammography Technologist
CPR certification
Excellent communication skills and patient service orientation
Two years of clinical experience is preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements

Ability to travel with the West Texas and Southern New Mexico regions
