As an Infant/Toddler Teacher, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children ages 6 weeks to 3 years can learn, grow, and thrive. Through responsive caregiving, meaningful interactions, and developmentally appropriate experiences, you will help foster each child's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development while building strong partnerships with families. Your work directly supports the Y's mission of strengthening communities by helping our youngest participants develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills they need for success in school and life.This work is right for you if you have:A passion for working with infants and toddlers and supporting their earliest stages of development.Patience, warmth, good judgment, flexibility, and a positive attitude.The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, families, members, and fellow Y associates.Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 0-3.At least 1 year of early childhood education or licensed childcare experience.A High School Diploma or GED.Maryland 90-Hour Child Care CertificationAll Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
