The Underground Fitter at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. performs the installation of fire sprinkler systems in industrial, commercial and multi-family settings. This role involves performing underground work under the guidance of the foreman, ensuring that all work is completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards.Position Responsibilities:Install, modify, and repair underground and above ground CPVC, C-900 and Ductile Iron fire sprinkler systemsRead and interpret blueprints, plans, and specificationsPerform system testing, inspections, and troubleshootingCoordinate daily tasks with the Foreman and assist with crew leadership as neededMaintain a safe, organized, and efficient job siteCommunicate professionally with customers, inspectors, and team membersMaintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.Perform other duties as assigned by the underground foreman/superintendent.Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer months.Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 50 pounds.QualificationsWhat are the Qualifications for this position?Minimum 2 years of experience as a utility/underground fitter or in a related roleExtensive hands-on experience with fire sprinkler system installationStrong understanding of underground piping and aboveground systemsAbility to work and lead effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environmentStrong communication and customer service skillsPreferred Backflow Certification (or willingness to obtain)Preferred Equipment operator experiencePreferred Experience working directly with a Foreman or leading small crewsPositive attitude with the ability to lead and communicate clearlyBackflow Certification (or willingness to obtain)Travel within the local community is required.Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
