Full Stack Engineer (Java/Angular)

We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Java/Angular Software Engineer to support the digital transformation of internal business processes for the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).The role involves modernizing existing business applications to maintainable solutions built on a microservices architecture.The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of Java backend services and Angular frontend applications.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.Analyze existing business processes and applications, identifying opportunities for improvement and digitalization.Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and Angular frontend applications within a microservices architecture.Implement REST APIs and persistence functionality using Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.Develop frontend functionality using Angular and TypeScript/JavaScript, ensuring seamless integration with backend services.Maintain and enhance existing microservices applications supporting different business divisions.Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests, ensuring application quality, reliability, and performance.Support user acceptance testing (UAT), collaborate with business users, and obtain formal business sign-off.Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release preparation, deployment, and change management activities.Apply AI-agent-driven software development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Codex, to implement and modify application code, while reviewing and testing generated changes.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and change-related materials in accordance with organizational processes.Ensure project documentation and deliverables are maintained within the ESM’s SharePoint environment for audit purposes.Identify technical risks, address issues related to application changes, and support the adoption of improved development practices.Maintain effective communication and strong working relationships with stakeholders across different business divisions.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.10+ years of hands-on professional experience in Java software development.Proven hands-on experience in both backend and frontend development, with Java and Angular being mandatory.Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot, including the implementation of Java services and persistence functionality using JPA and Hibernate.Practical experience writing and maintaining automated unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit or Cucumber.Experience using Git in team-based development environments, including branching strategies, pull/merge requests, and code reviews.Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.Experience using XML, YAML, and JSON for application development, data exchange, or configuration.Hands-on experience with AI-agent-driven software development using at least one of GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Codex. Candidates must have used an AI agent to implement or modify application code, reviewed the proposed changes, and validated the results through testing.
