Candidates should be based in the Boston area. The territory will primarily cover this area. Candidates MUST be willing to travel 4 to 5 days a week (day trips in your assigned territory while on the road; and be comfortable with up to 10 overnight stays per month.) Area Growth Representative - Field SalesConsumer Packaged Goods Manufacturing$85,000 - $95,000k (base plus commission, flexible based on experience level)Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week Permanent OpportunityWhy You’ll Love This Job:Health, dental, and vision benefits401k matchGenerous PTO planMonthly car allowance + gas cardCompany-shared bonus poolWhat You’ll Do:New Account AcquisitionIdentify and target small and regional businesses not currently stocking company products, including electrical supply houses, lumber yards, hardware stores, and local grocery chainsActively pursue and close new stocking locations through in-person sales visits within the assigned territoryPartner with an Inside Sales Representative to schedule appointments and advance opportunitiesAchieve monthly targets for new stocking locations addedExclude Nationally Planogrammed Accounts (NPAs) such as Home Depot, Walmart, Costco, and similar national retailersAccount HandoverTransition newly identified and qualified accounts to the designated Inside Sales Representative or Account Management teamEnsure all customer details, documentation, and account information are accurately communicated for a smooth handoffMaintain direct ownership of select accounts when decisions are made locally or when a corporate buying office is not involvedConverting Locations to Stocking LocationsConvert nationally set but locally non-stocking locations into active stocking locationsWork with accounts such as Ace Hardware, Napa, City Electric, and similar retailers to secure local inventory commitmentsIncrease product availability and sales velocity at converted locationsMerchandising, Upselling & Maintaining at Existing Stocking LocationsMaintain adequate inventory of product samples and point-of-purchase (POP) materials to support territory needsBuild strong relationships with store and branch personnel to reinforce brand loyalty and long-term partnershipsSecure off-shelf displays, preferential placement, and promotional support using effective selling and negotiation skillsEnsure products are properly stocked, merchandised, and replenishedUpsell products at every visit and introduce additional SKUs and display opportunitiesPerform product demonstrations and participate in in-store events to drive brand awareness and customer engagementEnsure execution of promotions planned at the headquarters levelMaintain existing accounts as active stocking locations and develop store managers into strong brand advocatesReporting and MetricsLog daily sales activities, account updates, and territory progress in SalesforceTrack pipeline activity and report on new account conversions and performance against monthly and quarterly goalsReview reporting tied to NPAs to ensure effective servicing and territory coverageMiscellaneousSupport customer-facing events such as trade shows, table days, and regional promotionsAssist with special projects and initiatives that support company growthRepresent the company professionally at all times, adhering to business-appropriate appearance and attire standardsBalance responsibilities with an initial focus of 70% sales and 30% merchandising, which will gradually shift to 70% merchandising and 30% sales as the territory matures and growsWhat We’re Looking For:Experience in territory sales, business development, or retail merchandising, preferably within the CPG industryStrong understanding of retail operations, product placement, and relationship-based sellingProven success in identifying opportunities and driving measurable growthExcellent communication, organization, and time-management skillsProficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office SuiteSelf-motivated and comfortable working independently while traveling within an assigned territory
