Duties to be performed in the interest of long and short term financial objectives and hotel needs, while protecting the assets of the hotel in an innovative and effective manner. This position reports to the Director of Finance and Budget, and the primary responsibilities are listed below, to include but are not limited to the following:Conduct all food, beverage and non-food item purchases in accordance with company specifications along with established purchasing policies and proceduresEvaluate prices, quality, service and reliability of vendors. Negotiate and ensure good working relationships with vendors while upholding high ethical standardsReceive and evaluate all goods delivered to the hotel while monitoring pricing, quality, quantity and reliability of vendorsEnsure timely issuing and distribution of approved requisitionsManage delivery schedules, lead times and inventories to ensure efficient operations of hotelResearch requests for all non-stock itemsDaily maintenance of order guides, vendor contacts, requisitions, purchase orders and receiving records in system (Birchstreet).Collaborate with Accounting/Accounts Payable to verify invoices, correct discrepancies and maintain price accuracyWork with Executive Chef and other staff to minimize food costs, while maintaining food quality (portion controls, etc.)Hire, train and supervise purchasing staffEnsure safe work practices are being upheld within the departmentCommunicate effectively between departments and general manager within area of responsibility.Perform special projects as requested QUALIFICATIONS: College degree preferred but not required; High school diploma or GED equivalent; experience may be considered in lieu of educationThree (3) years of purchasing experience required (ideally in hotel or related industry, but not required)Must have a Washington State food handler’s permit or the ability to obtain one prior to start dateExtremely detail oriented with ability to demonstrate multi-tasking, while adhering to tight deadlinesEffective verbal/written communication, organizational customer service and interpersonal skillsAbility to assist with pulling and stocking orders, and work in other conditions such as walk-in freezer and refrigerator, in storeroom and warehouse-type environment.This position requires one to move product/items, lifting a range up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodationStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and purchasing systems (Birchstreet preferred, not required) Extensive knowledge of food and beverage and non-food item productsPossess basic math skills and have the ability to accurately understanding the logistics of billingFlexible and able to work well independently and as part of a teamStrong knowledge of the working in the hospitality industry, and in hotels a plus Renaissance Seattle is an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive culture.
