PLC Engineer
Job Title: PLC EngineerLocation: Houston, TX (Onsite role)Duration: 6+ Months Job SummaryWe are looking for a PLC Engineer with experience in drilling rig control systems. The candidate will be responsible for designing, supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based automation systems for land drilling rigs and related equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and support control systems for drilling rigs.Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens acceptable).Support SCADA systems and HMI development.Perform system integration, testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and customer acceptance testing (CAT).Troubleshoot rig control systems and minimize equipment downtime.Support field technicians and drilling operations teams.Ensure compliance with industry safety standards.Prepare technical documentation, release notes, and commissioning documents.Train junior engineers and field technicians.Travel domestically and internationally to drilling rig sites as required.Required SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related field.5+ years of experience with drilling rig control systems.Strong PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens).Experience with SCADA and HMI systems.Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), preferably ABB and GE Converteam.Knowledge of Industrial PCs, servers, networking, and communication protocols.Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently with a hands-on approach.Preferred SkillsExperience in oil & gas or drilling industry automation.Knowledge of drilling rig equipment and operations.Experience with commissioning and field support activities.
