SQL Database Engineer DBA

Overview In this role you will maintain and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring data integrity and secure data transfer on Windows Server platforms. You will drive high availability with Always On and contribute to cloud migrations, building Azure databases and planning on-premises to cloud transitions. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable data services and automation to improve performance and throughput. This position offers hands-on responsibilities from day one, with potential on-call rotations. ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases for performance, scalability, and high availabilityWrite and optimize SQL queries to improve data retrieval and transaction processingManage backup, restore, and disaster recovery plansImplement and maintain database security protocols, access controls, and encryptionDevelop PowerShell and Python scripts to automate routine tasks and reportingMonitor database health using Splunk, Dynatrace, and SQL Server Profiler to identify issues and root causesSupport SQL DBA and Windows Server deployments for technical product implementationsProvide cross-platform support for IBM Db2 and other databases as neededCollaborate with infrastructure, development, and business teams to align database solutions with goalsParticipate in on-call rotation for database support and maintenance Key requirements8+ years as a SQL Server Database AdministratorExperience with Always On Availability GroupsExperience building Azure databases (Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances)Migration experience from on-premises SQL Server to Azure or AWSProficiency in SQL and scripting with PowerShell and PythonStrong knowledge of Windows Server and basic network troubleshootingExperience with monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace (preferred)Experience with performance tuning, automation, and data securitycross-functional collaborationproactive problem solvingstrong communicationSQL Server administrationPowerShell scriptingPython scripting
