Senior Java Software Engineer

Job Description \nWe are seeking an experienced Java Developer with strong AWS expertise to support enterprise application development for IBM/Barclays. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of hands-on software development experience, with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, AWS cloud services, and distributed systems.\nThe candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable, secure, and high-performance applications within a large enterprise banking environment.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot.\nDevelop scalable Microservices and RESTful APIs.\nBuild and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS.\nWork with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.\nDevelop event-driven and distributed applications using Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies.\nImplement application security, authentication, authorization, and secure API development practices.\nBuild and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.\nDeploy and manage applications using Docker and Kubernetes.\nPerform application performance tuning, troubleshooting, debugging, and production support.\nWrite efficient, reusable, testable, and maintainable code following enterprise coding standards.\nDevelop automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.\nParticipate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development and security standards.\nCollaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers.\nWork within Agile/Scrum development teams and participate in sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.\nMentor junior developers and provide technical guidance when required.\n\nRequired Skills\n\n8–10 years of Java application development experience.\nStrong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+.\nStrong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Security.\nExtensive experience developing Microservices and REST APIs.\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.\nExperience with Kafka / event-driven architecture.\nStrong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.\nExperience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.\nStrong understanding of design patterns, distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native architecture.\nExperience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.\nGood understanding of Agile/SDLC methodologies.\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nPrevious experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets.\nExperience working in large enterprise environments such as Barclays or other major financial institutions.\nKnowledge of AWS IAM, security, networking, monitoring, and logging.\nExperience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.\nKnowledge of Redis/ElastiCache or other caching technologies.\nExperience with observability tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace.\nAWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer or AWS Solutions Architect is a plus.\n\n
