AI assistance in interviews is not permitted. Role OverviewStarbucks is seeking a Lead Java Engineer to drive the development of scalable microservices and APIs supporting customer data solutions. You’ll lead a high-impact team building mid-layer services that connect internal systems with external partners, leveraging your expertise in Java, cloud platforms, containerization, and Agile practices. Key ResponsibilitiesLead Agile ceremonies and roadmap execution.Define project scope, specifications, and resource estimates.Communicate requirements and monitor development progress.Deliver high-quality, well-tested features and enhancements.Own the full application development lifecycle and support.Document deployment and infrastructure best practices.Evaluate and present new technologies for architectural review.Troubleshoot and optimize performance.Provide technical leadership and mentorship on complex projects. Required Skills & Experience7+ years experience with Java 8+5+ years with Spring Boot4+ years with Containers (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)4+ years with Cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)Strong understanding of microservices architecture and HTTP/REST4+ years in test automation (JBehave, Cucumber, Selenium, JUnit)4+ years in Agile/Scrum environments (JIRA, ADO, etc.)2+ years in lead roles Preferred SkillsExperience with Kafka, NATS, Kinesis, or Event HubFamiliarity with Datadog or New RelicExposure to Elastic SearchExperience with ApigeeThanks & RegardsDevin AlexanderE: devin@mindmergetech.net
