VMware Infrastructure & Migration Engineer

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a VMware Infrastructure & Migration Engineer for an onsite role in Brooklyn, NY or within the 5 boroughs to support enterprise virtualization and data center migration initiatives. This role requires hands-on expertise in VMware technologies, including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and HCX, with a strong focus on large-scale VM migrations, performance optimization, and infrastructure automation. WHAT WE OFFER Competitive compensation Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Group Life Insurance 401(K) HSA/FSA options Pre-Tax Transportation Program Generous PTO and holiday package MANDATORY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Minimum of 4 years of experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and managing VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, VxRail, and vCenter Servers Minimum of 4 years of experience creating and managing virtual machines (VMs), including resource allocation and performance troubleshooting Minimum of 4 years of experience configuring and maintaining virtual networking (vSwitch, NSX) and storage solutions (vSAN, SAN, NAS) Minimum of 4 years of experience applying patches, updates, and upgrades to ESXi hosts, VxRail, and vCenter environments Experience implementing security controls, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and monitoring system health using tools such as vROps and NetIM Experience developing automation scripts using PowerShell/PowerCLI or Python SCOPE OF SERVICES Design and configure VMware HCX, vCenter, and NSX components across source and target environments Execute wave-based virtual machine migrations using HCX mobility methods (vMotion, Replication Assisted vMotion (RAV), etc.) Monitor migration performance, handle errors, and validate post-migration system performance and stability Coordinate phased migration schedules across multiple application tiers and environments Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including: Application owners for testing, validation, and downtime planning Network engineers for firewall configurations, routing, and Layer 2 extensions Backup teams for integration validation and backup freeze windows Configure and maintain virtual infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking components Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure system health, performance, and availability Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline administrative and operational tasks Maintain detailed runbooks, status reports, issue logs, and executive summaries throughout migration activities UNIVERSAL Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.
