Overview
The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy of their organization when it comes to generating new business. Works closely with senior management to identify opportunities, develop plans, and coordinate resources to grow revenue and expand market share.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Oversees the implementation of business development strategies to heighten company profitability.
Leads a team of business development and sales professionals, identifying business opportunities to pursue and creating business proposals to support their ideas.
Develops new business opportunities by researching new markets that could benefit from the company’s products or services.
Participates in contract negotiation with new clients to establish standards of business conduct and ensure legal compliance.
May initiate and participate in creating marketing campaigns to promote current and new services to current clients or potential clients.
Monitors industry trends to identify new opportunities for growth in existing markets or new markets that could be served by the company.
Conducts market research to determine the best way to approach potential clients or customers to increase sales.
Develops strategic business plans to achieve company goals by coordinating with other departments such as accounting, human resources, operations, and marketing.
Cultivates and/or ensures the cultivation of relationships with current customers to ensure satisfaction with products and services provided.
Prepares budgets and financial forecasts to help management make informed decisions about spending priorities. Directs and coordinates business development budget.
Creates business plans for new ventures or expanding existing ventures to increase profitability.
Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to achieve the organization’s goals.
Leads and manages the development team to ensure the successful implementation of business development initiatives.
Identifies new creative approaches to business development.
Collaborating with other departments to ensure efforts are aligned with the organization’s overall mission and vision.
Directs and oversees the company’s business development.
Contributes to company’s short- and long-range planning, identifying areas of possible growth, expansion, and new opportunities.
Establishes appropriate internal systems to support business development operations consistent with the company’s growth and reporting requirements.
Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops staff; manages schedules and workflow.
Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance. Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
Participates in the acquisition analysis and due diligence on all acquisitions.
Works with Project Managers and management on CRM/Deltek reporting, data collection, system integration and reporting to ensure accurate reporting of business development efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
MUST be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, etc. required.
P.E. / R.A. license required.
15+ years related experience or equivalent required.
Competence in statistical/economic analysis and database management.

Pay: $167,000.00 - $227,000.00 per year
