As a Systems Administrator, you will own the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure that connects our staff and systems across two dozen locations.This is a high-ownership position. You will move beyond ticket-driven work to proactively identify risks, build resilient systems, and raise the technical bar across the organization. If you thrive in environments where your decisions matter and your documentation outlasts you, this role was built for you.Infrastructure & Cloud SystemsAdminister Windows Server environments and cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID)Manage identity and access controls including Active Directory, group policies, and MFAOversee endpoint management at scale using Intune and/or SCCMMonitor uptime, performance, and capacity across all locations — and fix issues before users notice themSecurity & ComplianceOwn the security posture: patch cycles, endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, and vulnerability remediationMaintain HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and actively support audit readinessLead incident response for infrastructure-related security eventsBackup & Disaster RecoveryManage backup systems and verify data integrity on a regular cadenceMaintain, document, and periodically test disaster recovery plans — not just write themNetwork & ConnectivitySupport multi-site connectivity including VPNs, firewalls, and routing configurationsTroubleshoot escalated network and infrastructure issues across all facilitiesDocumentation & Knowledge SharingDocument systems, configurations, and runbooks to eliminate single points of failureCross-train team members and actively contribute to a culture of knowledge sharingCollaboration & ProjectsPartner with help desk, developers, and leadership to deliver infrastructure that enables the missionLead or support implementation of new systems, migrations, and tooling rolloutsReceive day-to-day technical direction and guidance from the Senior Systems Administrator, who sets priorities, reviews work, and provides mentorship on infrastructure decisionsCollaborate closely with the Senior Systems Administrator on cross-site projects, escalations, and infrastructure planning; formally reports to the Chief Science Officer (CSO)RequirementsRequiredBachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required4+ years in a systems administration or infrastructure engineering roleHands-on experience with Windows Server environmentsProficiency with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra IDSolid networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and routingExperience with endpoint management platforms (Intune, SCCM, or equivalent)Working knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworksPreferredBackground in healthcare IT or other regulated environments (HIPAA experience a strong plus)Scripting and automation skills in PowerShell or BashHands-on cloud infrastructure experience with Azure or AWSRelevant certifications: Microsoft (e.g., AZ-104), CompTIA (Security+, Network+), or CiscoMeasurable OutcomesReliability: Measurable reduction in unplanned downtime and incident frequencySecurity Posture: Consistent patching cadence, strong MFA adoption, clear audit trailResilience: Tested DR plans, no single points of failure in critical systemsDocumentation: Runbooks and system docs that the team actually usesTeam Capability: Colleagues who can cover key areas when you’re unavailable
