Mechanical Engineer

Spectral Evolution, a manufacturer of portable spectral measurement instruments, seeks a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of design experience.Core Responsibilities:Design & Prototypeo Compile customer requirements for new product developmento Work with Electrical and Applications Engineers to design electro‑optical‑mechanical systems and accessorieso Prototype, assemble, and test custom solutions and beta builds of instruments and accessorieso Design packaging for spectroscopic instrumentation and accessorieso Create and update 3D models and drawings of machined partso Create and tolerance drawings for optical mounts, systems, and custom optical componentsProductiono Use revision control to release parts and assemblies to the production teamo Generate BOMs, assembly documentation, and test procedureso Support the production team as neededTroubleshooto Troubleshoot and rework non-compliant assemblieso Identify production bottleneckso Design procedures and fixtures to aid in product assemblyo Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical and optical components and systemsQualifications:Demonstrated 3‑D modeling expertise (Primarily Onshape; SolidWorks maintained for legacy products)Experience designing housings for electro‑optical systems using aluminum, plastics, and other materialsExperience with 3‑D printing for rapid prototyping (In-house SLA printer)Machine shop experience to rework and prototype parts (Manual mill, lathe, and hand tools)Work with glues and epoxiesExperience with thermal analysis and product testingNice to Have:Experience with Zemax or other optical modeling softwareExperience and/or interest in spectroscopyThis position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, good communication skills, a proven ability to meet deadlines, and the capability to work independently and within a team environment.Pay: $65,903.29 - $119,308.57 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingHealth insurancePaid time offEducation:Bachelor's Experience:Mechanical engineering: 5 yearsOnsite
