Customer Service Representative

Customer Service Representative Works under the general supervision of the Finance and Administrative Services Director by serving as the face and first point of contact for the City, providing exceptional customer service to residents, visitors, and internal staff. This position manages daily customer transactions, responds to inquiries, directs customers to appropriate departments, and serves as the primary customer service contact for City operations. The role is responsible for creating a professional, welcoming, and efficient experience while supporting the City's day-to-day administrative and financial functions. Receives inquiries from the public by telephone and in person and furnishes information or directs inquiries to the proper source for an answer. Receives utility and other payments; enters payments into the computer; issues receipts. Issues work orders for utility and other services. Balances daily cash receipts and makes bank deposits. Performs general clerical and secretarial duties, including typing and filing as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, AND Two (2) years of customer service experience or additional education related to the duties listed above. Knowledge of office practices; knowledge of policies and procedures. Proficient skill in Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft Office 365; skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including a telephone, computer, and 10-key. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; ability to make mathematical computations. Must be bondable. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity required to perform essential job functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking, and creative problem solving. The incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Employees required to drive a motor vehicle as an essential job duty are required to successfully complete a motor vehicle record (MVR) check following a conditional offer of employment.
