Medical Assistant/X-RayThe Medical Assistant/X-Ray is responsible for providing basic care to clinic patients following established standards and practices.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Triage patients by injury or illness.Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow.Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients' conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers.Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc.Providing patient care as directed by provider; this may include screenings, treatments in accordance with nursing standards.Assisting providers with various procedures as needed.Documenting patient charts and relaying information & instructions to patient/family. Document all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data, etc. in medical record.Answering patient phone calls & messages and acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider; appointment scheduling.Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices. Adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and stock supplies.Utilizes electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals to NCHMD specialists and ancillary services.Performs diagnostic x-ray with minimal exposure to self or patients. Correctly identifies patient prior to exam, introduce self and receive signature for ABN if required. Keep radiology area stocked.Education, experience and qualifications include:Minimum of High School or GED required.Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role.Current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) License.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients.Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes.Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology.Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
