You'll work on cutting-edge AI tools for both internal and external use while helping maintain our existing technology stack. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to grow into a Software Engineer role while working with the latest AI technologies.What You'll DoWork with Next-Generation AI Tools: Configure, integrate, and extend AI services and components (for example, AWS Bedrock, LangChain/LangSmith) to solve business problemsMaintain & Enhance Existing Systems: Contribute to current repositories and improve codebases across our stack (Node.js/TypeScript services, AWS with Terraform, Kafka, Amazon DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, Docker/Kubernetes)Deliver Incrementally in an Agile Environment: Ship small, well-scoped PRs; help refine stories into tasks; estimate, demo, and iterate during 2‑week sprints with our 8‑person Scrum teamLearn & Grow: Follow DAT Engineering standards and practices while working under the guidance of experienced engineersDebug & Fix Issues: Troubleshoot across development, test, and production using logs, metrics, and traces in Node.js services and AWS infrastructureParticipate in Code Reviews and Quality Practices: Learn from feedback; write unit/integration tests; aim for team code coverage targets; practice TDD when appropriate; and document code and public APIsRequired QualificationsWhat We're Looking For2+ years with JavaScript/TypeScriptGrowth mindset with ambitions to advance to Software Engineer levelAdaptability and openness to rapidly evolving AI technologies and toolsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred ExperienceTo help you self-assess, we use these levels: Familiarity (coursework or small project), Working knowledge (shipped code under guidance), Proficiency (can implement end-to-end independently).
