Verifies type and quantity of merchandise received for agreement with documentation provided, brings discrepancies to supervisor's attention. Assists in assembly and loading of merchandise, unpacks, segregates and stocks counters and shelves in accordance with established instructions. May price stamp merchandise and assist in periodic inventories by counting stock items remaining on shelves and keeping storage and sales area clean and orderly.Moves specifically designated layaway merchandise from retail store to warehouse, stacks it per procedure, and returns it as required, ensuring proper documentation.May be required to operate price tag machine, unload boxes, packages, and pull merchandise from stock or shelves.Assists customers in locating merchandise and answering general questions; may operate a cash register occasionally.Works under general supervision; little review during progress of work; instructions are checked for compliance.Performs other related duties as assigned.Physical EffortStands, walks, and handles merchandise up to 50 pounds with assistance.Working ConditionsGenerally works indoors; exposed to drafts, heat, combination controlled temperatures, climates, weather conditions, noise, and dust. May have to stand for long periods.Training RequirementsAssociate must receive Hazardous Material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.Six months experience performing various duties related to loading, unloading, and verifying merchandise.
