This role will provide mentorship and technical guidance to company personnel while supporting the implementation and refinement of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and best practices.The selected candidate will work closely with engineering leadership and operational personnel to strengthen process maturity, improve organizational efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives across multiple projects and functional areas.About this RoleThe Process Improvement Engineer will serve as a technical mentor and advisor responsible for observing engineering and operational processes, coaching personnel on Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and supporting implementation of process improvement initiatives. This role will help drive operational effectiveness by strengthening personnel capabilities, monitoring improvement activities, and promoting continuous improvement principles throughout the organization.The ideal candidate will bring strong Lean Six Sigma expertise, proven mentoring experience, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams in highly regulated operational environments.Key ResponsibilitiesObserve and evaluate engineering and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvementMentor company personnel on Lean Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and best practicesMonitor implementation and effectiveness of Lean Six Sigma initiatives and improvement activitiesSupport continuous improvement efforts across engineering and operational functionsConduct kickoff meetings to assign mentees and establish project objectives and expectationsAnalyze personnel application of Lean Six Sigma principles and provide coaching and feedbackStrengthen and refine personnel use of process improvement tools and techniquesProvide bi-weekly progress reports detailing implementation activities, performance improvements, and best practicesCollaborate with management and technical personnel to support operational excellence initiativesSupport development of sustainable process improvement strategies and organizational process maturityFacilitate communication between subcontractor personnel and company leadershipWork Environment & Schedule RequirementsWork will be performed both onsite and remotelyTravel to Pantex may be required for training, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) issuance, and project walk-down activities designated by the Responsible ManagerTravel is anticipated to be limited during the base performance periodOffsite work will include email correspondence, phone calls, and Microsoft Teams meetingsPlanned work schedule is anticipated to be up to 25 hours per weekTotal anticipated level of effort is approximately 600 hours during the project durationPeriod of PerformanceInitial assignment duration is six (6) months following contract awardAn optional six (6) month extension period may be exercised at the discretion of the STREquipment & ResourcesGovernment Furnished Equipment (GFE) will be provided and may include:Laptop computer and associated accessoriesVPN access to the company’s unclassified networkMicrosoft Office suiteMinitab statistical analysis softwareRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related technical discipline preferredCertified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required, but Advanced Lean Six Sigma certifications preferredMinimum five (5) years of relevant Lean Six Sigma and process improvement experienceExperience mentoring or coaching technical and operational personnelStrong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and operational excellence practicesExperience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or technical operations environments preferredExcellent analytical, communication, facilitation, and organizational skillsExperience working in DOE, NNSA, or highly regulated environments preferred
