Job Description Engineering Technician - AutomationWe are seeking a skilled Automation Engineering Technician to support the development, operation, and continuous improvement of automated equipment used in the production of interconnect solutions. This role is well-suited for individuals with strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and operational reliability.ResponsibilitiesSupport and maintain automated production equipment used in cable assembly, connector manufacturing, and related electromechanical processesDiagnosing and resolving equipment issues, including automated crimping, stripping, laser-welding, testing, and assembly systemsAssist with PLC and control-related tasks, including adjustments, minor program modifications, and sensor or motion system calibrationParticipate in the integration of new automation technologies, such as robotics, machine vision, and automated test systemsExecute preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtimeMaintain accurate documentation of machine settings, process changes, maintenance activities, and performance metricsCollaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with safety standards and internal quality requirements across all automated systemsGlobal travel to our manufacturing sites is required – up to 40%Qualifications:Associate degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experienceExperience working with automated manufacturing equipment, preferably within the interconnect, electronics, or precision assembly sectorsWorking knowledge of PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, and industrial control systemsStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentationEffective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departmentsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in interconnect manufacturing, including crimp quality standards, wire preparation, connector assembly, or automated test equipmentExposure to robotics or machine vision technologiesFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured improvement methodologiesAbility to interpret or update CAD or electrical drawings
